In the past two years of existence, NIUG has grown as an organization. It now has over two hundred individual members and a contact database of over five hundred individuals and organizations NIUG has both individual as well as organizational members involved in diversified area of specialization, but share a common commitment to working for the cause of on-line information sharing/information dissemination. NIUG members are entitled to have stake in the direction and management of the organization and its activities. NIUG makes no distinction among members on the basis of caste, creed or gender and seeks to encourage those smaller organizations and individuals that may otherwise find it hard to participate.

Individual Membership

What benefits do I get?

An individual member can avail of the following benefits:

use the drop in center with Internet access at NIUG office. ( preregistration required )
have free/discounted access to workshops / training conducted by NIUG.
learn to develop their own home pages
launch their home pages on the Intranet-INDRENI
partake in the direction and management of the organization and its activities.

 

What are the conditions for hosting my web site on INDRENI?

The member must update his/her web site at least once every 4 months.
NIUG reserves the right to remove the individual member's web site from the Indreni server if the web sites contain:

downloads of Pirated Software
any indecent/immoral materials
commercial content
Opinion pieces discriminating religion, political parties, caste etc.

How do I become a NIUG member?

You will be required to fill in a membership form , which will be provided at the office (between 11 am-4 pm) .
You will need to bring along two auto sized photographs and the required membership fees

 

How much fees am I required to pay?

* Members are entitled to the web space for the duration of their membership only. Please note that the web space provided is only on NIUG's Intranet service INDRENI - the Nepali Intranet

Organizational Membership

How does my organization benefit?

One representative of each member organization will be given basic training on Internet/E-mail usage and web page development to help start creating the organizational web pages.
Access to expert advice regarding website development and management on one to one basis.
Use of the drop in center with Internet access at NIUG office . ( Preregistration required )
Free/Discounted access to workshops / training conducted by NIUG, for one resource person.
Discounted training to the staff of the member organization on the Internet related topics as per request.

What are the conditions for hosting my organizational web site on INDRENI?

The member organization must update his/her web site at least once every 4 months.
NIUG reserves the right not to host web sites of any political parties.
NIUG reserves the right to remove the member organization's web site from the Indreni server upon breach of contract and should the web sites contain any of the following:

downloads of Pirated Software
any indecent/immoral materials
commercial content
Opinion pieces discriminating religion, political parties, caste etc.

Procedure

Your organization will be required to fill in a membership form , which will be provided at the office.
You should provide the following materials :

Xerox copy of organization registration certificate.
Information on organizational activities and the areas of interest or a brochure of your organization.

Office Time : 10:00 am - 4:00 p.m.( Mon to Fri )

What are the charges for becoming an organizational member?

This type of membership is open to all types of organizations regardless of their area of expertise. The charges are as follows :

* NIUG reserves the right not to accept those organizations whose work do not match the values of that of NIUG.
