Nepal Internet Users' Group 's Logo

Established in 1997, NepalNet is an electronic network of varied Nepali organizations collaborating in sharing sustainable development information on Nepal via the Internet and Intranet. NepalNet is funded by the PanAsia Networking Programme of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada, and was coordinated by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), in Kathmandu. With effect from April 1999, Nepal Internet Users' Group has been coordinating the network.

With the signing of the new agreement between ICIMOD and NIUG, NepalNet can be accessed by the local Nepali people via INDRENI - the Nepali Intranet. Thus, even those who cannot afford the Internet connection can now browse through the contents of NepalNet.

The NepalNet member organizations represents researchers, administrators, and development practitioners from government agencies, university departments, research institutions, and NGOs, as well as planners and policy-makers. Membership is constantly growing and is made up of both "technical" and "content" members.
