How does my organization become a NepalNet partner?

To be a NepalNet partner, an application process must be followed, and certain minimum criteria must be met:

*The organization must be involved in development activities in one or more of nine key development which define the scope of NepalNet
*
They must be willing to share information without any preconditions, and provide regular update of information at least once a month to their organisation's home page.
* A NepalNet Partner must have an E-mail connection, a telephone line dedicated to electronic networking and at least a reasonably fast computer capable of being used for web designing.
*
The organization must appoint a resource person to work on the organizational homepage and provide information for the Key Development Sectors.

An application pack, and details of the terms and conditions of NepalNet partnership may be obtained from the NIUG office. The application form must be duly filled and returned. All applications received will be reviewed by NIUG and qualifying organizations will be invited to become partners. NepalNet membership is open to NGO, GOs, INGOs Research and Educational Institutions. Any organization who have information and are willing to contribute to the overall enhancement of NepalNet are welcome. Queries can be sent to info@niug.wlink.com.np. NepalNet Partners pay no additional fee on the Organizational Partnership fee mentioned in the table below. Partners will enjoy additional benefits by being part of a cooperative effort. They can avail themselves of all the facilities and resources available to NIUG organizational partners.

How does my organization benefit from NepalNet partnership?

You will contribute towards the construction of a body of knowledge on and about Nepal, accessible nationwide over Indreni - the Nepali Intranet and worldwide over the Internet.
You will have a presence on the world wide web through your organization's home page, thereby maintaining an active presence on both INDRENI and the Internet.
NepalNet site is given special prominence within NIUG's on-line service (INDRENI), which will promote the access of on-line information sharing within the country.
You will have the opportunity to participate and meet with partner organizations to discuss issues relating to information sharing and the future of the NepalNet.
You will participate actively in the overall co-ordination of policies, plan and content development related to NepalNet.
You will be trained by NIUG to become e-commerce shopkeepers on the PanAsia Network and conduct sales over the Internet.
You will be a part of a publicity material aiming to broaden the awareness of the NepalNet site.
You will have access to expert advice, information on advanced technologies, facilities and a resource center at NIUG.
Being a NepalNet partner means being noticed because it is the only network with a website dealing exclusively on sustainable development in Nepal.
* Nepal Partners will have access to an Internet drop-in center at NIUG premesis.

Procedure

Your organization will be required to fill in a membership form, which is available at NIUG office.
You will be required to provide the following materials :

  • Xerox copy of organization registration certificate.
  • Information on organizational activites and the areas of interest or a brochure of your organization.
